The session opened with remarks from the Chief Executive of MSF, who engaged participants on their field experiences and challenges. He presented the vision of the EmpowerHer project, emphasizing women’s leadership development, strengthened participation in decision-making, local fact-finding on violence, and improved access to legal aid and government services. He also highlighted key thematic areas including awareness on child marriage, gender equality, and women’s economic empowerment.
Participants reflected on the current situation of women in their respective working areas and discussed strategies to enhance community engagement through regular meetings, events, and local initiatives. Partners shared field experiences, including both challenges—such as political and operational constraints—and successful practices from the field.
Technical sessions were led by key team members. The Project Coordinator and Project Officer reviewed project targets and progress updates. The Monitoring and Documentation (M&D) Officer focused on monitoring, reporting, communication, and documentation systems. The Finance Officer provided guidance on financial management and compliance. The Staff Lawyer discussed legal aid issues along with recent legal amendments and their implications for field implementation. Additionally, the DHRNS Project Coordinator shared insights on fact-finding methodologies and field application.
The session concluded with improved clarity on roles and responsibilities, strengthened coordination among partners, and a renewed commitment to achieving EmpowerHer project objectives.
